Meet Lindsey. She came to OWL as an intern through the MRC program at UK and quickly became part of the OWL family! She assisted in our LEAP program, helping with curriculum and was a listening ear to other participants and staff- giving such helpful feedback! Although Lindsey was a great intern, she also had significant barriers to employment as a result of a vehicle accident and we realized she would need support to find the right job to match her skills, abilities and interests. As her internship came to a close, Lindsey agreed to be a learning partner for the Expanded Discovery model for Supported Employment, and we were able to assist her in developing a plan for employment! It is important to Lindsey to be able to help others, use her computer skills, and feel like she is making a difference! As a result of her hard work, Lindsey is now working at UK Healthcare! She accepted a PRN role as a full time PBX operator! In fact, she is the Senior Operator who trains other employees! Lindsey says her employer is awesome, that she couldn't ask for a better job, and that she has built great relationships with her coworkers. She gets to work with technology, meet people every day, and make a difference in their lives- which is exactly what she loves to do!  She says that the work she is doing is fulfilling because she loves getting to interact with and teach people from all different walks of life.
