SEEC: TIP Supportive Employment Services
General Description:
The purpose of this program is to provide support for individuals seeking gainful employment, as well as for individuals working to maintain employment. Employment services provide opportunities for the consumer to become knowledgeable of strengths, learning styles, compensatory learning strategies and accommodations relative to their area of interest in the job market.
Program Goal:
The goal is to provide individualized services that lead to an individual's successful job placement and retention. Job placement assistance is provided on an individual basis as well as the group support of Job Club. Job coaching and retention services are utilized as needed to assist the individual in maintaining long-term employment.
Referral Procedure:
Individuals referred must meet general admission criteria to SEEC. Referrals are generally made during TANF screening assessments.
TIP Services:
TIP is a one-on-one intensive support service for KTAP recipients who have mental, physical, learning, or behavioral disabilities or other issues affecting stability.
Services will vary based on individual needs, but include assistance leading to stability in the following areas:
- Medical issues such as
- Assistance setting up medical appointments
- Locating and using medication resources
- Assistance with disability paperwork
- Transportation to medical appointments
- Legal issues such as
- Assistance with criminal record expungement, including running background checks and filling out paperwork.
- Help find assistance with family legal matters such as divorce and child support
- Life skills such as
- Grooming and professional appearance
- Time management
- Setting priorities and goals
- Budgeting
- Locating and using community resources
- Educational issues such as
- Assistance finding resources and information for adult education
- Assistance with choosing an educational program such as GED, college or vocational training
- Assistance with enrollment process
Other assistance may be provided on a case by case basis, including transportation, housing, etc.
TIP Employment Services
SEEC’s job placement assistance is available to those individuals who are job-ready. Services vary based on individual needs, but may include the following:
- Identification of work skills
- Assistance with résumé writing
- Career Counseling
- Job leads
- Interview skills/practice
- Job application assistance
- Problem solving and coping skills
- Coordination with counselors and case managers for supportive services
- Accommodations for disabilities
- Employer/employee job relations
