The Life Education and Adjustment Program (L.E.A.P) is a twelve-week program which provides the following services:
- Work Adjustment and Life Management Classes (5 days per week) or
- Life Management Classes (2 days per week)
The Work Adjustment Program consists of participants working three half days or five half days in one of OWL's work programs. The participant is paid according to the quality and quantity of their work. If needed and appropriate, job-coaching services are also available.
The Life Management Classes are held twice weekly for one hour at a time. These classes cover such topics as:
- Organizational Skills
- Building Self-Esteem
- Time Management
- Housecleaning Tips
- Coping with Anger
- Home Repairs
- Problem Solving
- Money Management
- Decision Making
- Other Pertinent Topics
The participants are given various assignments to assist them in further development of their life management skills.
At the end of the first six weeks, a meeting is held with the program participant, rehabilitation counselor, OWL staff and any other pertinent individuals of the participant's choice to review the progress made in the program as well as make additional vocational recommendations and decisions.
